About the Society

The Society for Biocontrol Advancement (SBA) was established in 1986 as Indian Society for Biocontrol Advancement (ISBA) at the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, India and later started functioning as Society for Biocontrol Advancement (SBA) from 1996 at Project Directorate of Biological Control, Bangalore which was recently upgraded as National Bureau of Agricultural Insect Resources (ICAR-NBAIR). The objective of SBA is to promote research on biological control, create awareness and to implement biological control of crop pests, pathogens and weeds in India. SBA creates a platform for the exchange of views on Biological Control Research. SBA publishes a highly specialized quarterly journal entitled "Journal of Biological Control". It conduct Seminars / Symposia / Conferences / Brainstorming sessions, Exhibitions and Lectures on biological control. SBA develops close link with other national and international professional societies and organizations to promote and popularize biological control. The society had conducted already several Symposia / Seminars / Conferences / Brainstorming sessions and Workshops on Biological Control for the betterment scientific and student community. SBA honour the best biocontrol workers biennial by giving awards.
